I have an area that is 200 feet long and 20 feet wide and 9 inches deep.
I want to convert this to square yards and then to short tons.
Note: The material weighs 148 pounds per cubic foot.

Hi, I'll do this step by step so others can check my answer. :)
To calculate the weight in short tons, we can calculate the cubic feet then just multiply by 148.
First convert all lengths into feet.
9 inches = 0.75 feet
Then calculate the cubic feet.
200 x 20 x 0.75 = 3000 cubic feet
Now how much it weighs.
3000 x 148 = 444,000 pounds
Then convert to tons.
444000 / 2000 = 222 tons
Now, you wanted square yards, first calculate square feet.
200 x 20 = 4000 square feet
now convert to square yards
4000 / 9 = 444.4444 square yards
