Horsepower Gas v.s. Electric

Horsepower Gas v.s. Electric
by John Massey on 04/23/02 at 17:15:25

I am looking for a factor that will let me know what gas motor to use on a pump that had an original 7.5 HP 3 phase motor belt drive. Is it a direct HP for HP swap? or are there different HP calculations for electric v.s. combustion?

Any one got any ideas?
Thanks
John

You need to know the "effective power output" of the gas engine.  This is the "brake horsepower"

horsepower for an electric moter is the same as "brake horsepower" for a gas motor.

It is usually labeled as bhp
