How do I convert Inches to decimals?

I need to convert inches to decimals this may include some fractions too. For example I have a measurement of 20 3/4" how do I convert these to a decimal ???

Think of - 1 inch as 1000/.001.

.001 = one thousand of an inch.

.750 is the decimal equivalent of 3/4 or 3 divided by 4.

20 3/4 inches can be expressed as 20.750

Shouldn't .75 = 9 inches when you convert it to inches
I am trying to convert decimal to inches also.

0.75 feet is 9 inches, but CEB was looking for 3/4 inches, not feet.

You can convert any fraction to a decimal simply by dividing the bottom number into the top number. For example, 3/4 = 4 into 3.00=.75  So 20 3/4 inches = 20.75 inches.  This works with any fraction.
