1 ton of refrigeration is equal to be the power required to freeze one short ton of water at 0°C in 24 hours.

I also know 1 ton of refrigeration is equal to 12,000 Btu/h.

I know that doesn't answer your question, but hopefully it will give you more to work on. I was unable to find more.
