Sugar in food

I would like to determine the # of [US] Tablespoons or teaspoons there are in a can of soda.
Example:  Sprite has 38 grams of sugar.
How many Tablespoons or teaspoons is this = to?
Thank you,  ???

According to the rec.cooking.faq, granulated sugar has a density of 12.1 grams per Tablespoon or 4.0 grams per teaspoon.

35 / 12.1 = 2.9 Tablespoons

The problem with that conversion though is the sugar in Sprite is probably not your basic granulated sugar, probably corn syrup. But they may base the nutritional information on regular sugar.
