minutes to hours and minutes

minutes to hours and minutes

How can i 'automate' calculating hours and minutes from minutes ?

For example: 135 minutes is 2 hours and 15 minutes.

What formula (ideally in a spreadsheet) could I use?

Big thanks,
alina

Just to add - I do realise that modulo 60 could come into it, just haven't got a clue how to achieve it in Excell or KSpread or OpenOffice, etc.

Thanks,
alina

I created the following formula in Microsoft Excel 2003.

Assuming cell A1 contains the total number of minutes, and I installed the formula in cell A2:

=FLOOR(A1/60,1) & " hours" & MOD(A1,60) & " minutes"

So if cell A1 contained 135, then the formula displays:
2 hours 15 minutes

Thanks for that - it works.

I have since found out that CONCATENATE function can be used as well.

CONCATENATE(INT(A1/60),":",MOD(A1,60))
would give 2:15

Once again big thanks,
alina
