Celsius=5/9 (f-32) Fahrenheit=9/5C+32
wouldnt it make more sense if it was....
Celsius=F(9/5)+32 Fahrenheit=C-32(5/9)

Nope.
1°F equals 5/9 °C, but first you must adjust the zero point, by subtracting 32 from °F. As the zero point of °C is already 0 you do nothing to it.
°C = (°F - 32) * 5/9
The other way is similiar. 1 °C equals 9/5 °F, but you need to adjust the zero point. °C is already 0, so you do nothing, just need to add 32 to °F.
°F = (°C * 9/5) + 32
