Hi Im trying to find out if my scales are accurate.  I have a ten litre bag of cat litter, anyone know what this should way in kilos

Different brands of cat litter would weigh different, so that would not give you a very accurate result.

Instead you should use water.  If you have a large container of water with a know volume, that would work easiest.

Pure water weighs 1 kilogram per liter.  So if you have a 5 liter container of water, then it weighs 5 kilograms.

Of course the true density of water depends on how pure it is, and its temperature, but the accuracy would be off by such a small amount that it would not matter for a household scale.
