Cubic meters of Sand to Metric Tons

Hi - I'm working on a shoreline project, estimating sedimentation rates since the last lowstand of sea level in a coastal region.  I need to to convert a calculated volume of sediment into weight - specifically, into both regular (US short) tons and metric tons.  Do you the conversion from cubic meters to both tons and metric tons for wet, packed sand, and for wet, packed mud (silt + clay)?

According to Reade:

wet packed sand has a density of 2.08 kg/L which is 2080 kg/m³ or 2.08 tonne/m³

packed mud has a density of 1.91 kg/L which is 1910 kg/m³ or 1.91 tonne/m³

cubic meters of sand * 2.08 tonne/m³ = tonnes of sand
cubic meters of mud * 1.91 tonne/m³ = tonnes of mud

You can then convert metric ton (tonne) to U.S. tons on the weight conversion page.
