Textile density or weight
Textile density or weight

I need to get from ounces per linear yard to grams per square meter - for lots of different fabrics, all different widths. I'm having a serious brain cramp.
Thanks!

If you know the width of fabric I could help.
If you know the width, then you can figure out the ounces/square yard, which can easily be converted to gram/square meter.
But ounce/linear yard cannot be directly converted.

Majority will be either 54" or 66". I'm trying to come up with a formula I can put into Excel or a SQL database. I will have the width of the fabric and the ounces per linear yd. Need to convert to grams per sq meter.
thanks!

First you would convert the inches to yards by dividing by 36.
Next take the ounces/linear yard value and divide it by the above width in yards, to get ounces/square yards.
Next multiply that by 33.9 to get grams/square meter.
I figured that conversion factor by:
1 ounce = 28.349523125 gram
1 square yard = 0.83612736 square meter
28.349523125 / 0.83612736 = 33.9057
