Sticks of butter???

How many grams of butter is in a "stick of butter"? We see this in American recipes but have no idea how to convert to Australian (or possibly UK?) quantities.

In America, 1 stick of butter is equal to 1/4 of a cup.

I am not sure if grams used in cooking is weight, but 1 stick of butter is also 1/4 of a pound, which would make it about 113 grams.

A stick of butter in USA is 1/2 cup, 8 tablespoons.
