Crime Scene Conversion

Crime Scene Conversion
by Bobby Wightman on 10/06/05 at 17:45:04

Hi, I am trying to help someone do homework for a Criminal Justice class.  She has measurements of a crime scene that she needs to put on an 8-1/2 x 11 size paper.

How do you convert a room down to the size of paper?  Is there some kind of formula you can enter into a calculator?

Thank you,
Bobby

There is not really a formula.

First you need to convert all the units used to the same base unit.  For example, make sure all units are in centimeters, or all units are in inches. Cant have a wall measured in feet and a book measured in inches, convert feet to inches first.

Also convert the paper size to the same unit used above.

Now take the largest distance in the crime scene, and divide it by the paper size. This will give you your conversion factor.

Now divide each unit in the crime scene by your conversion factor.  They should now be all the right size to transfer to your paper.
